Job Description

: Job Description About LCF The London Community Foundation is a charity focused on social change in London. Our aim is to make it easier for Londoners to bring about positive social change, and to help bridge the gap between wealth and poverty in the capital. We do this by encouraging philanthropy and supporting community-based action at the grassroots. Over the past 20 years we have invested almost £45 million on behalf of our donors, and we also deliver programmes on behalf of central and local government. Unlike a more traditional Foundation our grant making isn't done with funds that belong simply to us. Rather, we are the meeting place for many different donors, private and public, with differing interests and concerns. What they share is a commitment to supporting London and a belief that by acting as part of a collective, each will achieve far greater than any could alone. We are a member of the UK Community Foundations. The 48 Community Foundations are collectively the tenth biggest grant maker in the UK (over £65 million in the past year) with the second fastest growing endowment of over £450 million. Worldwide there are over 1700 Community Foundations supporting local communities. Overview of the role Please note this is a revision to the original job description. The post is now being offered as a full time permanent position. With first-hand experience of managing relationships and ideally of grantmaking in London or elsewhere, a key part of your role will be to support the Deputy CEO/Director of Programmes and other members of the team on the development of new business. This work will centre on proposal writing and liaison with potential prospects. You will also lead on existing donor funds, enabling the retention, renewal and growth of funds; developing and managing grant programmes that match donor interests with the needs of the community on the ground. To this end, you will have your own portfolio of funds to manage, including corporate and individual donors, as well as supporting the delivery of programmes across The London Community Foundation that are managed by your colleagues. This role particularly focuses on the creation of new programmes for individual donors and corporate giving and is an exciting opportunity to guide, influence and grow people`s giving for London and maximise community impact. We are ideally looking for candidates that have experience in both of these areas (i.e. grant programme management and donor relationship management). We are however willing to consider candidates with significant experience in one area and less experience in another, but who can demonstrate an appetite, the skills and competencies to develop in the second area. With unprecedented drops in public spending, public awareness has never been higher or the impact of austerity measures on London's most vulnerable. At the same time, the attention on philanthropy is highlighting the role that 'giving' can play in strengthening communities and achieving social change. Closing date 5pm 1st October 2015 1st stage interviews and assessment tests on the morning of either 13th or 14th October 2015. The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
